Tips to Help you Prepare for Back to School Season

Back to school is just around the corner, so in this week's blog post, we will outline some tips to help make the transition slightly easier!

  1. Fix Up Your Sleep Schedule- it's very likely that you go to bed or wake up later than usual during the summertime. A few weeks before school starts, try going to bed a little earlier than you usually would and try to set an alarm to wake up earlier in the morning as well. This way, you can gradually ease into your back-to-school routine and ensure you are well-rested when classes start.

  2. Review Your Syllabus- If this is something you have access to, try reviewing it before classes begin so you have a good idea of what the course load will be like for each class and how each teacher or professor weighs their tests, assignments, and exams. If you have any questions about your syllabus, you can email your teacher or professor about them or ask in person when classes begin. This will ensure you have a clear and accurate picture of everything stated there, which will help you work towards academic success before classes start!

  3. Plan Out Your Schedule- Depending on what works best for you, you can create a schedule on Google calendar or make a handwritten one to clearly have an idea of what your schedule will look like. Besides classes, you can factor in any extracurriculars you will be involved in and personal time. When you have a clear picture of your schedule, it will help you manage your time effectively and see what might take up too much of your time/ what can use more of your time and thus help you plan accordingly.

  4. Set Goals- Before starting your classes try to set realistic goals that you wish to achieve whether it be school related or personal. This will help with student success and give you an overall sense of motivation because you will clearly see the things you wish to achieve and are actively working towards.

Hopefully, these tips will help you ease back into school and maximize your learning journey. Don't forget to prioritize self-care and make time for the things you enjoy doing. This will help to relieve stress and recharge you. Importantly, don't hesitate to reach out for help and support if you do feel overwhelmed. You are ready for this, Good Luck!
